How to Build Trust When Marketing Online

The ease of creating blogs and products online is both a blessing and a curse, in my opinion.

It’s a blessing because with a quick Google search, you can pretty much get information on any topic that you want, right when you want it.  It’s a curse, though, because anyone can put anything online nowadays.

So the question in your reader’s mind is:

“Can I trust you?”

Transparency is so very important these days, and it’s important that you be extremely transparent when marketing online.  Don’t hide behind your computer.  Don’t fudge your results.  Don’t “invent” qualifications.

We all have value to bring to the marketplace, even the person who is just starting out online.  There’s no need to “fudge” your results or your qualifications, the key is recognizing your skillset and presenting it in a way that is attractive to others.

One way that you can let others know about your skillset or the kinds of results you’ve had, is to post testimonials online.  Let your results speak for themselves.

I recently gathered together some clips of various entrepreneurs whom I have worked with over the past 18 months and put them into a little video.

What are some ways that you make sure that you are being “transparent” online?

    Hi Natasha:

This is my first time on your blog and I must say I am very impressed with what I see here. I absolutely agree with you on this post. We all have our own special and unique skill sets that we bring to the market place. There is no need of trying to be someone else. We just have to be authentic and give out what we know from the heart. Yes, testimonials are a great way to get people to trust you. Any kind of proven success record you can put out there will definitely help. Thanks for sharing these great tips.

Hi Liz! Welcome and I’m so glad you enjoyed your first visit here- hope to see you more often! : )
Over the years I’ve found it so interesting that people don’t see their own unique value, especially when they are starting out online. You don’t have to be a Guru to provide value and people will connect with you, just for being YOU!

Thanks so much Perry! I really appreciate that. you’re right, having a go-giver heart AND delivering “the goods” (valuable information) are 2 other VERY IMPORTANT ways to build trust online. Usually those two lead to the testimonials : )
Great to see you and hope that you’ll stop by again soon!
