Living a Purpose Driven Life

This is a post that I’ve been excited to write for the past couple of weeks, I just needed the time to devote in order to do my message justice…

To be honest, it may turn many of you “off” and I’m ok with that.

For others, it will give you a far deeper insight into who I am, how I can help you and hopefully help you have the courage to “dig deep” and answer the call to live a purpose driven life.

So here we go….

Let’s start with a confession:

When I got started in the networking marketing industry, and was exposed to personal development for the first time back in 2007, I remember hearing everyone keep talking about finding your “WHY”.

I knew I needed a “WHY”….that as an entrepreneur and network marketer, I better be able to answer the question: “What’s Your Why?”

In fact, when my husband Rich and I were recently honored as Spotlight Members of the Month in November for PRO Elite, I was asked about my “Why” and to be honest I just made something up that was generally what I thought my WHY was….

“To help 1,000 entrepreneurs.”

Some people’s “WHY” is that they want to provide for their family….

But, to be honest, I was quite privileged as a child.  And since my husband and I are both professionals, we’ve always had a really nice salary.  So, I always knew that my WHY wasn’t monetarily related at all. I knew there was something more…

I always knew that my WHY had to do with “helping people” but that’s super broad…

So was my most recent “WHY”- to help 1,000 entrepreneurs was my lame attempt at narrowing down my “WHY”.

I kept asking myself….

“Help them with what, Natasha?!?!”

I even sat down one Friday evening, and tried SO hard to come up with my “Mission Statement”.

Couldn’t do it.

Then it happened….

December 8, 2011.

I was reading my daily devotional, “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young and I felt the overwhelming urge to read one day in advance…

It was then that God spoke to me through my devotional:

“Be willing to go out on a limb with Me…You are approaching a crossroads in your journey.  In order to follow Me wholeheartedly, you must relinquish your tendency to play it safe.”

There was more to it…but as I read those words, I was filled with clarity.

Not just “clarity,” CRAZY amounts of clarity.  Like miraculous clarity that I’ve never before experienced in my life.

I won’t dive in to everything that I discovered about God’s plan for me that day (I promise to reveal it in 2012, though), but I can tell you this….

I finally discovered my mission in life….my WHY

I’m so ecstatic I can hardly stand it! : )

My mission is four-fold, and to understand the mission, you have to understand the context in which this mission was given to me.

Right now (December 2011), the economy stinks.

But things are not going to be getting any better any time soon.  In fact, they’re going to get a whole lot worse, before they get better.

If you think otherwise, you’re sadly mistaken. (sorry, just being honest!)

And in the dark economic times ahead…

Entrepreneurs will be the beacons of light in the World.

Entrepreneurs are the ones who will be able to give to those who are in need, whether that be food, shelter, clothing, medical care, etc.

Entrepreneurs will be the ones who can demonstrate God’s mercy and love by giving selflessly when called to do so.

So here’s My Mission and what you can expect heading into 2012 and beyond ….

I will work tirelessly to cultivate successful savvy entrepreneurs who will become beacons of light in the dark times ahead.  To accomplish this:

1.  I will Empower Entrepreneurs by giving them the Confidence they need to withstand the tough road ahead as they pursue their entrepreneurial passions.

2.  I will Educate Entrepreneurs on how to build a Savvy Business online through The Savvy Entrepreneur™

3.  I will Equip Entrepreneurs with the latest tools and resources to use in building a sustainable savvy business online.

4.  I will Enable Entrepreneurs to Help Those in Need by creating a charitable foundation.  (This one is the long-range plan, and I will continue to pray in order to discern the specifics on this one….but #s 1-3 will certainly keep me very busy for awhile!)

So there it is, my mission.  I’ve very excited to now be leading a very purpose-driven life and to be able to honestly answer the question “What is your WHY?” : )

To start this new journey, in 2012 I’ll be sharing most of my content on a new blog- The Savvy Entrepreneur ™ ( that I’m creating with my husband, Rich.

My 1st article series on our new blog will go into far greater depth on the three parts of my mission statement.

Now that I’ve shared my story, I want to hear from you!

Has God called you to take a massive “risk”?  Did you answer His Call?

Are you living a “purpose-driven” life?

What’s your Why?

I look forward to seeing your new blog and how you will help empower entrepreneurs to gain confidence.

I recently participated in tele-seminars by Michael Bernhoff about taking action. His training covered rating yourself in 14 areas of life 5 years ago, today, and projecting 5 years in the future. Most areas are dependent on confidence, communication, emotional and mental strength. Improving these four areas will provide more benefit than focusing on the other ones. As a result I want to improve is my confidence since it affects all my other goals and objectives. An example for me is my goal to improve my business and income – I need confidence to promote myself and push ahead. I also need to communicate my message clearly to pull in the right audience.

I love your story, Natasha! I love stories of how God speaks to people and what He asks them to do. Yours reminds me of the story of Abraham who was called to a place he did not know, to believe a promise that he never even saw fulfilled in his own lifetime. But he went. And he believed. And it happened just as God said it would.

You may be right, that entrepreneurs may be the economic foundation for the future, and the way God will use to supply the needs of others. My “why?” Although my ministry is a “Why” in and of itself, another of my “Why’s” is to pour funds into specific ministries that I’m especially interested in, and also to have enough to help out individuals who are in financial need.

Go with God, Natasha. He is certainly leading you. The journey will never be boring, but rather very exciting and satisfying!

@Kathy Mills, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and your experience with Michael Bernhoff’s tele-seminar. That sounds like a terrific exercise.

Confidence is the foundation for all that you do as an entrepreneur and so I applaud you for recognizing this as an area you want to work on. I am looking forward to providing you with the confidence that you need to move forward. I wrote an article called Building a Success Snowball that you might enjoy-

Your mission is wonderful. It will keep you busy forever! I believe that is what a mission is all about. It has no ending, meaning it is eternal.

Personally my mission statement is to connect the earth and spiritualitly through the heart. I am not particularly religious, but I am very spiritual.

I do believe my life looks a little crazy to those outside, but I feel guided and everything is taken care of. You know this, but when we are on song with what we are here for, everything gets taken care of. Money is actually irrelevant to all this, somthing many people have trouble with.

As you know, we are somewhat on the same wavelength as my desire is to work with others to help them achieve the success they are looking for.

For those who are ready to step up, they can find a mentor if they simply ask and then follow the signs presented!

Love this blog post. I purposed years ago to always be attempting the impossible in some arena of my life – this forces us to dig deeper, think harder, plan better and expand what we can accomplish into what God can accomplish and, as I quickly learned, what we can accomplish when we team up with others.
So much more energizing and fun and it blows the limits of more than just our own endeavors, it spreads unity, collaboration and focus to others.

Natasha, great job on your blog. Living a Purpose Driven Life is what it’s all about. Many people get involved in MLM to get rich quick, their eyes are only on themselves. But it’s leaders like you and many others who teach networkers to lead with value, and take their eyes off themselves. Not only what’s your “Why” but what is your purpose? Thanks for so much great content.

Congratulations on a successful year, finding your mission and for the new path you’ll be taking in 2012! Personally I’m not religious, but I don’t believe you have to be to appreciate the value of having a purpose driven life. I truly believe we were put here not to “find” ourselves, but to “create” ourselves and that’s a whole lot easier once you have a clear direction in life. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very interesting the way entrepreneurs think. I am sure that defining your why will help continue forward with a lot more success. Just recently I was thinking somethings along the same lines.. that in order for people to really succeed in online marketing, and actually on everything in life, they need to find the real reason, the real motivation to do it.

Great post, Natasha! It is good to see that you have that laser focus, and that you are focusing on how to help people. Some of mine are more specific to company, but one thing that I know about the future is something that was reinforced the other day while following the advice of T. Harv Eker in Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and Richard Paul Evans in The Five Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me About Life and Wealth and calculating my net worth with my wife. It wasn’t a pretty picture, largely because of student loan debt (that Ph.D. that I’m working for at the end of my name won’t be cheap), but knowing the process means that I can learn to build it. One of the things that I would like to do is help my children not to have that realization some day, as well as teach others how to be on the happy side of that formula.

Happy for you that you have finally discovered your “Why” and that this “why” will be helping so many entrepreneurs that need guidance on their path to success. 41. Barry Armstrong Says:

Natasha… I am a little late to this conversation. I was reviewing some of your training from the MM in MN last month, and wandered on over to see your blog. The Purpose Driven headline caught my eye and I had to read it, and it took me exactly where I hoped it would go, and encouraged me to go back to my About Me and strengthen my why. We recently took my company leadership through an intense and enjoyable, facilitated Mission VIsion conference. I wish I had seen the Why video before these sessions. I believe starting with Why rather than Mission, VIsion would have changed and charged the entire focus. It was good, mind you, but all about the company. We should have started at the people. Sorry this is getting long but I could go much longer!

Now that I know for sure we have a spiritual kinship, I plan to follow you even more closely. Team is good. Family is better.

  42. Steven Hennigan Says:

Thank you for sharing so much about how you struggled to find your WHY. I can relate. God has always given me a passion for the homeless. I live in Atlanta, Ga and a day does not go by without me seeing someone who has been displaced due to an unfortunate hardship.

I myself have experienced a bit of homelessness along with my family. Well before this instance, God placed in my heart to create programs for those less fortunate and act as a beacon for those in need. My purpose in life is to share God’s love and spread the word as much as I can.

I have began to act on this by heading up a program for youth in need for Atlanta. Creating programs for children with no father in the home. I have also began working very hard on my online venture which I know one day will provide for those in need.

    Thank you for your help!
